Chest Wall Deformities

Thoracic deformities are more frequent in childhood.

One out of every 400 children has this problem.

Chest wall deformities are pathologies that bring important aesthetic problems along with physical and emotional repercussions, especially if we consider that they become more evident during adolescence.

Among the most frequent disorders of this type, we find Pectus Excavatum

(sunken thorax), which can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. If left to evolve, in addition to the aesthetic problem it represents, this situation can lead to spinal deviation, pulmonary hypoplasia (decreased growth), and deviation of the most important structures of the thorax, such as the heart, trachea and esophagus.

At the Institute of Thoracic Surgery, we have the appropriate personnel and equipment for the correction of this defect, through the minimal invasive technique (Nuss Procedure), which offers the best results.

In like manner, for the correction of Asymmetric Pectus in young adults,

we have proven experience in the Ravitch and modified Ravitch procedure, which provides excellent aesthetic results, supported by the satisfaction

of our patients.

Likewise, we offer treatment alternatives for other thoracic deformities,

such as Pectus Carinatum (pigeon breast) and Excavatum, which also involve aesthetic and physiological problems.
