He is known as the human face of medicine.
Dr. Mier has performed more than 3,000 procedures in thoracic surgery, including lung transplants.
He is the founder and director of the Minimal Invasive Thoracic Surgery Institute (MITSI). Located in one of the best hospitals in Mexico, this center is a pioneer in the integral treatment of cancer patients, through psychological and nutritional support, and other related areas.
A graduate of the School of Medicine from the Universidad Anáhuac, José Manuel Mier, M.D., Ph.D has a specialty in General Surgery from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and a doctorate in Thoracic Surgery from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henáres in Spain.
He also has postgraduate studies at the European School of Thoracic Surgery in Italy; the University of Southern Paris; and Harvard University Medical School.
He is a teaching collaborator of Respiratory Pathology at the University of Barcelona and has written more than 50 scientific articles in different media.
He was awarded the Cervantes scholarship in 2006 and was nominated for the best European researcher by the European Society of Thoracic Surgery.
He is an international lecturer on robotic surgery and lung cancer.
